Restoran Wong Ah Wah, Jalan Alor, Kuala Lumpur

What a feast we had here at Restoran Wong Ah Wah, famous for its BBQ chicken wings.

The roast pork noodles (RM13.00) came with lots of lovely bits of siew yoke. The noodles resembled that of wantan mee, and tasted of lard. Very indulgent dish, this.
The fried rice (RM10.00) was mundane after having experienced the roast pork noodles.

I loved the salted egg squid (RM18.00) which was wet and rich with salted-egg paste. Sublime stuff!
Everyone gave the sweet and sour pork (RM15.00) the thumbs-up as well. The earmark of a good sweet and sour pork is that the deep fried meat mustn't be soggy when drenched with the tangy gravy. This one lived up to that criteria.

Mustn't forget our greens, crunchy stir fried kailan (RM10.00) this time.

And of course the piece de resistance, BBQ chicken wings Wong Ah Wah style (RM12.60). Smoky, sweet, salty, finger-licking goodness.

The total bill for the 5 of us totalled RM89.30, inclusive of drinks. A bit on the pricey side, but very satisfying indeed!

Wantan Mee @ Restoran Ho Weng Kee, SS2, Petaling Jaya

This restaurant is supposed to be a branch of the one in Petaling Street. Hubby wanted to go try it out, and so we did....
I had the char siew wantan mee. I rather enjoyed the springy noodles.

Hubby had the chicken feet char siew wantan mee. The chicken feet looked scary to me. Lol!
The wantan tasted a tad too porky for my liking, though.
The noodles totalled RM12.00.

Rest In Peace, MJ (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)

This man formed a large part of my childhood foundation of dreaming the American Dream. I used to watch him on tv and tried to copy his moves, moonwalk and everything. He epitomised then (in my young mind), the greatness that is America....#1 in everything : best dancer, entertainer and most iconic singer in the whole world, back when I was growing up.
I wanted to go to the USA to watch him perform, back in the hey days of Beat It, Thriller and Bad. Mom and dad never warmed up to that idea, unfortunately.
Many years later, in my college years back in 1996, I finally managed to see Michael Jackson performing live at Stadium Merdeka KL. I remember queueing up forever at the Concorde Hotel to buy the concert ticket, and on the night of the concert, queueing up forever to get in and out of the stadium. It was a sold-out concert and I sat waaaay behind (could only afford a ticket befitting my student budget). But what a blast it was, I sang and screamed along with the crowd, and Michael totally rocked the show!

In his time, he was the King! No one ever came close. He will always be an American Legend.

Rest in peace, Michael Jackson.

Cu Cha Dan Fan Restaurant, Section 14, Petaling Jaya

This restaurant in Section 14 PJ lies on top of the Baker's Cottage cake house, next to Guardian, same row as KFC.
I think the proprietor is from China, everything here; from the menu to the posters and signboard, were all in Mandarin. There was no English translation on the menu. We had to guess our way through when ordering, luckily there were pictures on the restaurant's walls depicting their recommended dishes.
We had the tofu in orange-flavoured sauce (RM10.00). This was unusual, in that it is savoury rather than sweet, despite the citrus base. Very tangy.

3-cup chicken, which to me, tasted like chicken in soya sauce (RM12.00). The serving was a tad small, but the chicken was very tender. It could have used more hours in the marinade though, since the taste didn't quite permeate into the chicken flesh.

Restoran Kong Sai, Paramount Garden, Petaling Jaya

It was the eve of their departure to the US, when we went out for dinner with GrandUncle and his family at Restoran Kong Sai. One month without Malaysian food, better eat well before leaving! I like their leong sui in a tall glass. They got the sweetness and concentration just right.

We ordered the silky pak cham kai chicken which was apparently a house specialty.

We also tried the pork curry, which was very thick and creamy with santan. Very rich!

Washed all that richness down with soothing watercress soup.

Mustn't forget the greens, garlic stir fried batavia.
Meat balls with chives soup, which tasted kinda "green", I found it weird.

The piece de resistance was the deep fried fish head topped with lots of deep fried ginger shreds and garlic. Very good, this!

The meal for 6 came up to RM98.00, which was slightly on the pricey side.
